Sexuality on Campus

During the 80s, the College News published a lot of material related to sexuality. Student activism on campus seemed to focus on making the bi-co inclusive of gay, lesbian and bisexual students.

The first photo advertises National Coming Out Day, which occurs every year on October 11th (coincidentally, the birthday of this archive's humble creator). The second photo invites anyone interested to attend a Homosexuali-tea in the campus center. Teas are still held on campus today with themes related to gender and sexuality on campus.

Finally, this page includes an article from the College News by a student named Beth Stroud. Stroud writes about the atmosphere at Bryn Mawr and other women's colleges surrounding students with lesbian and bisexual identities and changes in attitudes about queer identities that have occured over time. She asserts her belief that when students decide to defy the 'traditional female role', a decision related to feminism, they are more likely to express lesbian identity.
