Marriage and May Day

This humorous marriage quiz from the 1932 yearbook section on May Day can tell us about the authors' attitudes about marriage, even if the questions are meant to be a joke. Among the qualities of potential husbands that the poll addresses are: whether he has a beard, whether he has 'perfect articulation', his professional position and whether he has a professional superior who is a woman.

The authors leave out the possibility of same-sex partnership. They also refer to children as 'litte idiots', and it seems they assume that respondents would likely have at least one, since they ask how many you'd like rather than whether you'd like to have any at all.
